Der "Bien ist ein Projekt in Kooperation mit der Ofenfabrik und dem Keramikmuseum in Velten, Nähe Berlin.

In der Installation werden im Kollektiv vereinbarte Systeme angesprochen und dabei entstandene Formen, Symbole und rhythmische Abläufe des Bienenvolkes auf zeichnerische Weise dargestellt. Durch den Einzug tonverarbeitender Maschinen zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts kamen in den Ofenfabriken immer mehr anzulernende Arbeiter unter, die im Akkord die Produktionszahl von Öfen nahezu um ein Zehnfaches steigerten. Diese mussten durch strenge Betriebskontrollen, disziplinierende Fabrikregeln und Verhaltensnormen aneinander angepasst werden, sodass sich die Kommunikation im Arbeitsalltag stark veränderte. Zu dieser gehört auch das Nonverbale, in der eine gemeinsame Basis geschaffen wird, um sich auszutauschen, sich zu verständigen und voneinander zu profitieren. Auch im Tierreich existieren Zeichensysteme und kommunikative Handlungen, die zur gemeinsamen Sprache geworden sind.

Im Bienenvolk steht durch ihre dreigliedrige Arbeitsteilung die Organisation des Biens im Vordergrund. Die klare Struktur sorgt dafür, den gemeinsamen inneren Instinkt zu verfolgen: Zellen zu bauen und die Jungen zu füttern. Die Arbeiterinnen bringen den Nektar und Pollen in ihr „Haus“ und verarbeiten ihn in ihrem Körper zu Wachs, um die sechseckigen Zellen aufzubauen oder Honig herzustellen. Der Honig steht für das Ergebnis eines Arbeiterkollektivs und macht die plastischen Prozesse der Bienen und das produzierte Wachssekret damit sichtbar. Es offenbart sich ein Mikrokosmos im Makrokosmos, der je nach Größe des Biens auf ein Unzähliges erweiterbar ist.

Im Gesamtorganismus des Biens entsteht Honig, der für das Volk als Nahrungsreserve dient und sie, vor allem im Winter, mit regelmäßiger Wärme ausstattet. So sorgten auch die Ofenfabriken in Velten durch die Herstellung der Kachelöfen für Wärme in den berliner Haushalten.

The "Bien" is a project in cooperation with the stove factory and the ceramic museum in Velten, near Berlin. 

In the installation, collectively coordinated systems are referred to and the forms, symbols and rhythmic processes of the bee colony are represented in a graphic way. The arrival of machines for clay processing at the beginning of the 20th century brought more and more workers to be trained in the kiln factories, who increased the production number of kilns almost tenfold on a piece-rate basis. These had to be adapted to each other through strict factory controls, disciplinary factory rules and behaviour norms, so that communication in everyday working life changed greatly. This also includes the non-verbal, in which a common basis is created to exchange ideas, to communicate and to benefit from each other. In the animal realm, too, there are sign systems and communicative actions that have become a universal language. 

In the bee colony, their triangular division of task sharing places the organisation of the Bee in the centre of attention. The clear structure allows the bees to follow their common inner instinct: To build cells and feed the young. The workers bring the nectar and pollen into their "house" and transform it in their bodies into wax to build the hexagonal cells or to produce honey. The honey stands for the result of a collective of workers and makes the plastic processes of the bees and the produced wax secret visible with it. A microcosm is revealed in the macrocosm, which, depending on the size of the Bee, can be expanded to an innumerable number of dimensions. 

Honey is produced in the bee's organism as a unit, which serves as a food reserve for the colony and provides them with regular warmth, especially in winter. In this way, the stove factories in Velten also provided warmth for Berlin households through the production of tiled stoves.
